One day after watching 4 straight hours of CSPAN I came to a startling  realization of profound understanding about myself. I hate boredom. It’s so boring. I wasn’t sure if there really was anything more interesting to do in south central PA than take notes on the latest happenings inside congress and read Hardy Boys books in my basement. Valiantly, I embarked on a quest to find something more entertaining than the free channels on TV. What I uncovered I’ve made into a list. That list is now the new home page on the website www.ExperienceHarrisburg.com. I am always looking to extend the list, but for the time being I am pretty satisfied that if you can’t find something new to do from the links and events already listed on ExperienceHarrisburg.com you are nesting in a bed of lies.

True story.

The Central PA Employment Consortium is hosting its annual job and internship Tuesday, Feb. 19th at the Radisson in Camp Hill. This well organized event is big enough to lure more than a few dissatisfied workers away from their lunch 213_cpeclogo.jpgbreaks in search of better jobs. While primarily targeted at the area’s college students and respective alumni, (as respectable as they may be) (or not) any job seeker should find the event worth traveling as there are more than 100 employers already signed up to take part in the festivities. All one needs to get in to this event and take part in one of the prize giveaways is a resume and a professional outfit. So, job seekers dust off those dress shoes, take out the nose rings, shave the fu manchu and make sure to check out the CPEC Job & Internship Fair Feb. 19th in Camp Hill!

I randomly came across an interesting initiative of PA not too long ago, “PA Artisan Trails.” For those of you like me who have no idea what artisan trails might be, “Route 15 ByWay of the Arts is one of several Artisan Trails located in scenic traffic corridors throughout the state. Modeled after successful national programs and those in several other states, the PA initiative combines arts & crafts with tourism and economic development. The Artisan Trails offer guided weekend packages and self-guided road trips provided by select lodging, dining and artisan partners, and each Trail attempts to capture the unique essence of its local area.” That’s straight from the website: rt15arts.com. images1.jpg

It’s quite an interesting program and allows you to find something new to do whether it be dine n wine or checking out the local artisans. Be sure to check out the calendar as it is updated regularly with a number of interesting events. So now you know!

Ever been skeptical of farm animals? I can understand your fears; the “farm show” sounds rather country . . . ish. However, I can assure you that it is a spectacle worth looking into. Don’t let the smell of hay and the combination of various animal manure hold you back from having a country good time!

I will admit, the first time I went to the farm show I wasn’t really sure what to expect – especially when I was greeted at the entrance by a life size recreation of some historical figure (I think it was Ben Franklin) made completely of butter! Yes, a statue of butter. Even so, the event is jam packed with fun animals, culinary demonstrations, food and wine sampling, crafts, gifts, and excellent eats! Not to mention the events that actually go on inside the complex. I really had no idea the whole place is some 24 acres big, I mean they actually have a stadium inside that hosts a rodeo among other country events.

Anyway, the events are free with only a few exceptions so why not check it out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. That’s a beaut Amos.images.jpg
